In a time of global crisis, we often give to objects a propitiatory value, even asking to be protected or graced by the misfortunes
that surround us.
We often see, visiting churches and Sanctuaries, objects offered to
the gods for having obtained something, in response to a request in a time of difficulty or problems to thank the future surgery: this work
is a sort of altar of fetishes that could be invested also
the value of Ex-Voto.
A small votive contemporary and domestic altar,
placed in a corner of our home.
Thinking about various interpretations and symbols that might be relevant to characterize this ex -voto-altar of of contemporary voting, I thought the Japanese legend of the 1000 paper cranes.
An ancient Japanese legend, in fact, promises that if you fold 1000 paper cranes Fulfil your desires. This legend is often associated with even to Sadako, a young Japanese girl, survived to Hiroshima's bombardament, which was found later to fight against cancer: Sadako decided to fold 1000 cranes so that it might come true her desire to continue to live, her effort to prolong life, failed, but it pushed his friends to erect a statue in Hiroshima Peace Park to take a gift every year thousands of crowns made from 1000 cranes, until now becoming a symbol of peace and hope.
